Congratulations to Jennifer Lynk-Cooke on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award! Lynk-Cooke was nominated by Angelo Diminuco who noted the following, "Since I've taken over as Supervisor here at HF-L Jennifer has always done exceptional work for the staff and students. I hear nothing but good things from her teachers that she cleans for, and they would back that statement up a 1000%, Jennifer has always helped out with concerts and has a pleasant attitude with her work load never complaining. Jennifer is a true Cougar Pride person and well deserving of this recognition." #WeAreHFL

Today’s Superintendent’s Conference Day was all about learning, collaboration, and creativity across the district, with approximately 33 different sessions offering something for everyone.
A standout highlight was our student-led sessions, where students took the lead and shared their expertise and perspectives:
🤖 AI Student Panel – Students shared how they’re using AI in and out of the classroom and sparked meaningful discussion around learning, motivation, and academic integrity.
🍦 Make & Take: No-Churn Ice Cream – A fun, hands-on session where participants created their own two-ingredient ice cream and walked away with a sweet summer skill.
🐾 Make & Take: Cougar Swag – Staff designed and created Cougar Pride-inspired jewelry while tapping into creativity and school spirit.
A full day of learning, connection, and student voice leading the way. 🖤💛 #WeAreHFL

The “2% tax cap.”
It’s catchy.
It’s memorable.
It’s… not exactly accurate.
In this episode of HF-L Oversimplified, HF-L Business Official Colin Pierce unpacks why the “2%” isn’t always 2%, how the number actually works, and why it changes from year to year.
No math degree required.
We promise.

Last October, HF-L High School welcomed 20 students from Bréquigny High School in Brittany, France—and two weeks ago, it was our students' turn to visit them in Rennes, Rochester’s sister city!
Reuniting with friends and exploring places like Mont Saint-Michel, Saint-Malo, the D-Day beaches, and Paris made for an unforgettable experience for our French and Spanish students.
We’re so grateful for this growing partnership between Bréquigny High School and HF-L High School. 🌍💛 #WeAreHFL

Congratulations to Terri Northrup on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award! Northrup was nominated by Amy Krebbeks who noted the following, "Mrs. Northrup is the true embodiment of a stellar work ethic and commitment to excellence. Any time of day that you walk into her room, students are cooking, sewing, running a business, writing resumes, learning about nutrition, childcare, kitchen safety and managing a budget. The life skills that students learn in their Home and Careers class will serve them for a lifetime. I don't know how she keeps so many balls in the air at once, but somehow she does, and with a smile on her face! She is always willing to help others and serves on our staff wellness committee, works with Odyssey of the mind as well as coaching several sports. She is such an asset to our middle school and the district!" #WeAreHFL

Congratulations to Chip Raines on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award! Raines was nominated by Liz Rollins and Chris DeFranco who noted the following, "Chip is a dedicated community member whose ongoing commitment has greatly enriched the educational experience of our high school students. Through regular visits to Personal Finance and other Business classes, Chip generously shares his professional expertise and life experiences in insurance and financial literacy, helping students build essential, real-world skills. His ability to connect complex concepts to practical life decisions empowers students to better understand risk management, budgeting, and long-term financial planning. Chip connects with students with energy and enthusiasm! He opens his local State Farm office to students interested in learning more about the business through shadowing and internship opportunities. By fostering engagement, encouraging thoughtful questions, and bringing authenticity to the classroom, Chip Raines exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and service that defines Cougar Pride. We are so grateful for Chip’s dedication to our HF-L community." #WeAreHFL

Congratulations to Abby F. on being a recipient of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award! Abby was nominated by Virginia Kukaj-Hartman & Amy Visca who noted the following, "Abby has also demonstrated incredible spirit and commitment through her participation in the Polar Plunge for the past two years. Her compassion and dedication to supporting the Special Olympics are clear in the enthusiasm she brings to the event each year. Abby doesn’t just take the plunge in the freezing water, she arrives fully dressed in fun costumes (this year, an inflatable polar bear), bringing energy and excitement that encourages others to get involved. Her willingness to support such an important cause while spreading positivity and school spirit makes her a wonderful example of leadership and kindness in our high school community. On top of all of this Abby is a stellar French student and an important member of the yearbook club. To know Abby is to adore her!" #WeAreHFL
