Mrs. West and Mrs. Will were nominated by second grade students and their teachers, who noted the following, "May 6th is National School Nurse's Day, and in honor of our nurses at Manor School, our second grade classes (Graney and Erickson) wanted to nominate Mrs. Will and Mrs. West for the Cougar Pride Award. Our second graders researched the day, brainstormed all of the amazing things our nurses do to keep students healthy and safe, and then used the writing process to write their own persuasive paragraphs to convince the Board of Education that they are worthy of recognition not only on May 6th, but every day!" #WeAreHFL

Taccetta was nominated by student Evelyn T., who noted the following, "Walking into Mr. Taccetta’s class is always the highlight of my day. Even though he’s armed with a never-ending supply of dad jokes, I still have to give him credit. They always manage to bring a smile to my face. While the work and vocab itself can be challenging, he has a way of making the effort feel worth it. Honestly, there are times I think about leaving the Literacy Learning Lab, but then I realize I’d be giving up that daily boost of positivity he provides." #WeAreHFL

Recktenwald was nominated by students Rachel H. and Kumari J., who noted the following, "Mr. Recktenwald goes above and beyond to help students in all their subjects. He is a caring teacher who always tries to find the positive in any situation. He encourages students when they are getting behind and is great at helping students organize and prioritize their work. Mr. Recktenwald is always available to talk to when life gets stressful. He never judges. He listens and assures students that if they keep a positive attitude and keep trying, everything will work out. His calm, super chill, attitude is really nice and very helpful in high school. Congratulations to Cam M., Benny F., Judson V. and Brayden M. on being named recipients of the BOE's Cougar Pride Award! These students were nominated by a group of HF-L Youth Wrestling parents who noted the following, "These students truly stepped up to support our youth wrestlers this season. Despite their own schedules and practices, they made time to come in and help out. Whether it was helping with the beginner kids or being one of the more advanced kid's partners. Their willingness to give back to the very program where they first began their wrestling journeys speaks volumes about their character. They served as role models making a meaningful impact on our younger athletes." #WeAreHFL
