Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I hope you had a fantastic summer and are ready for an exciting and productive year of learning and growth.
I want to extend a warm welcome to our returning families and a special welcome to those joining us for the first time. It is an honor to have your child in our school district. As your superintendent, I am deeply grateful to serve this amazing community. I have witnessed firsthand the dedication, passion, and excellence of our students, staff, families, and community partners. You are the reason our district is one of the best in the state and the nation.
This year, we will continue to focus on our mission of providing high-quality education for every student, every day. We will also continue to implement our strategic plan, which outlines our goals, strategies, and actions for improving student achievement, engagement, school and community pride, and well-being.
Health and safety remain our top priorities. We are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our school community while providing flexible and responsive learning options for our students. We will also continue to support the social and emotional needs of our students and staff, fostering a culture of belonging, high expectations, and collaboration.
We cannot do this work alone. We need your collaboration, feedback, and support. We value your voice and your perspective. We invite you to get involved in our schools, join our committees and councils, attend our events and meetings, and communicate with us regularly. Together, we can make this a wonderful year for our students and our district.
Last school year, we introduced ParentSquare, a new form of school-to-home communication at HF-L. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with the district. After analyzing feedback from parents and staff, we know that ParentSquare provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, coaches, teachers, staff, and parents to:
Send and receive school and class information
Share pictures and files
See calendar items
Translate information into the primary language in every home
Sign up to volunteer
Schedule parent-teacher conferences
And much more… all in one centralized place!
All district communication—from urgent alerts to athletic updates and classroom details—will now be sent directly on your computer or mobile device via email and/or text through ParentSquare. This interactive platform empowers you to engage in direct communication with the relevant staff member(s), ensuring a seamless exchange of information. A ParentSquare resource brochure was mailed home earlier this summer and is attached to this communication.
Thank you for choosing our district and trusting us with your children’s education. I look forward to seeing you soon and working with you throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Gene Mancuso
Superintendent of Schools
